National Volunteer Week, April 27 – May 2, 2008.
VA Voluntary Service is the largest volunteer program in the federal government. Over the past 60 years, VA volunteers have donated more than 689 million hours of service worth an estimated $12.9 billion. Here at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT, volunteers served over 58,000 hours in fiscal year 2007. Our volunteers come from varied walks of life, are as young as 16 and as old as 90. They are all an integral part of our medical center whether they serve within the facility with veterans and staff or in a VA program in the community. If you know someone who volunteers, National Volunteer Week is the perfect time to ask them what they do and to thank them for their service. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer of the VA Medical Center, you may contact Betty Acheson, Voluntary Service Officer, 802-296-5190. Thank you VA volunteers!
