WRJ VA Fence
WRJ VA extends property fence
Starting the week of July 20 we will begin work to extend the existing fence located at the White River Junction VA Medical Center main entrance. The existing fence will be extended across the front lawn toward the VA Cutoff Road. In addition this phase of the project will add simple post and tube gates at the remaining facility entrance points. Future phases of this project will eventually install fencing around the entire perimeter of the property.
Some of our Veterans have previously asked why the facility has installed a gate at the front entrance of the facility. One of our foremost concerns is the safety of the Veterans, visitors, and staff here at the White River Junction VA. The facility undergoes regular inspections to identify ways that we can enhance the safety of our environment. In our 2010 Vulnerability Assessment Team Survey, our inability to limit access to the facility in an emergency situation was cited. The gate and fence address a safety requirement for all medical centers. The fence will be put in place as a measure to protect the safety of our Veterans, visitors, and employees. In the event of an emergency requiring a facility ‘lock down’ the perimeter fence can be used to control access for the safety of our Veterans patients and our staff. We appreciate your support as we work to enhance the safety and appearance of our environment.
