A national movement is coming to White River Junction VA Medical Center to honor and thank women veterans with a complimentary portrait session on Aug. 29, 2019
White River Junction, VT – The I Am Not Invisible (IANI) Photography Project is coming to White River Junction VAMC on Thursday August 29th 2019 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Are you a woman that served your country? You are not alone. This project aims to raise awareness of women’s military service and increase visibility of women as Veterans. There are over 2 million women Veterans who have served in every branch of the military, making up ten percent of the Veteran population and growing. Over 5000 women Veterans live in areas served by the White River Junction VA Healthcare System. Women Veterans of all ages, branches, and eras are invited to join us for this exciting event to celebrate and honor your service to our country.
Gene Russell, Department of Veterans Affairs Photographer and US Army Veteran, has photographed many other IANI campaigns around the country and will be on station to photograph local women Veterans. Portraits taken at this event will be on display at WRJ VA locations after the event to recognize the contributions of women Veterans of Vermont and New Hampshire. All participants will receive a jpeg of their portrait for personal use and a virtual photo exhibit will be made available to view on the Center for Women Veterans Facebook page when the photography process is complete.
If you are a woman Veteran come for a portrait session and meet other women Veterans! Light refreshments will be served. You do not have to be enrolled in VA care to attend. Transportation from WRJ VA affiliated Community Based Outpatient Clinics is available by reservation. Preregistration for project attendance is not required but appreciated. Drop-ins are welcome the day of the event in the Freedom Building (Research building) Lobby.
Contact Sarah Bohnson, Women Veterans Program Manager with questions or to confirm your attendance today. She can be reached at (802)295-9363 x 6134 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
